Claudia DeCasas
Operations Manager
Claudia brings her meticulous organizational skills, creativity, and can-do attitude to her role in supporting the Phīla team. You’ll find her facilitating communication, coordinating projects, managing schedules, and more. While she mainly provides back-end structural support at Phīla, she also lends her skills in project management and grants management.
She has a professional and personal background in supporting nonprofit pet rescues. Before pursuing work in the field of philanthropy, she worked as an Adoption Counselor and Content Coordinator at a small Seattle-based rescue. Through her work there, she founded an educational event that highlights the availability and appeal of rescued “pocket pets” such as rabbits and guinea pigs. She continues to spend her personal time volunteering and taking in the occasional foster pet.
Claudia believes in creating community through art and supporting local artists. She has over five years of experience as a painting instructor, mainly teaching students with little to no previous experience. Her ability to break down complex ideas into easy to digest steps is a skill that continues to serve her well. Claudia can still be found contributing her artistic talent through volunteer roles that further pet rescue awareness efforts.
Claudia was born in San Jose, CA and has a BA from San Jose State University. She moved to the Pacific Northwest in 2016 and now lives in Tacoma, WA with her wife. Claudia enjoys jigsaw puzzles, painting, and spending time with her two tiny dogs, Lulu and Oso.
