Tara Smith

External Communications Associate

With her multi-cultural background, eye for detail, and social curiosity, Tara supports the Phīla team by breaking down complex ideas for audiences on social media and excels at building awareness for philanthropy and social causes. While she mainly provides communications support at Phīla, she does have a professional background in grant research and project management.

Tara received her BA in International Affairs from The University of Colorado, Boulder and an Executive Business Certificate from the University of Notre Dame. She studied Intercultural Management, Political Science, Ethnic Studies, and French. She is currently a part-time law student at Widener University, focusing on public interests, civil rights, and policy. Tara is passionate about social justice and has volunteered at legal clinics with the Dauphin County Bar Association and the National Pancreas Foundation. She has volunteered over 200 hours as a certified crisis responder for a global crisis network for suicide prevention.

Tara was born in Paris, France and she currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband and two dogs, Abba and Jay. When she is not working or studying, Tara enjoys reading, photography, and meeting people through her volunteer work.
