Philanthropic Advisor

Mark is a Philanthropic Advisor with Phila Engaged Giving, a values-driven philanthropic advisory firm that works exclusively with donors— individuals and families, family offices, estates, and charitable entities— interested in leaving a philanthropic legacy.

Mark's work as a community organizer inspired him to pursue a career in philanthropy and corporate social responsibility to challenge funders and companies to shift their strategies and operations to reduce harm and increase resources to grassroots organizations and community-centered solutions. 

He has worked at the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, The Kresge Foundation, and the PwC Charitable Foundation in grantmaking, impact investing and operations roles. Most recently, Mark served as a Co-Executive Director at the Transforming Power Fund, a Detroit-based social justice collaborative fund committed to transformative systems change through investing in community and donor organizing. 

Mark is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science and Afro-American and African Studies and has a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business. He is also a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy and a 21/64 Certified Advisor of Multigenerational Philanthropy. Mark is a native Detroiter, a musician, and frequent movie go-er. He serves as a board member for the Detroit Sound Conservancy, Black Male Educators Alliance and is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. Mark enjoys traveling and exploring parks with his wife Jamesa and their daughter Nia.
